A single login for users from 1 August 2009
From 1 August 2009 access to the resources of the ESRC Census Programme will be via a single login route,
replacing the current two options. Using this single login will present users with a list of organisations
which have signed up to the
UK Access Management Federation .
It is from this list that users will select their own organisation and then be able to log in using the
usual username and password for their organisation.
This change will have no significant effect for most users. However, there are some organisations which have
not joined the Federation (see the Federation’s
current membership
) and they will not be in the organisation list. If users cannot find their organisation in the list they
should, in the first instance, contact their organisation’s IT department, which will be able to confirm the
position. If users still feel there may be a problem they can contact
help@census.ac.uk.
If an organisation switches from using Athens usernames and passwords to a different institutional login,
their users, when attempting to access resources with the new credentials, will be prompted to provide the
First name, Family name, Institution, Email address and memorable word registered with us. This will allow
existing user records to be updated with their new credentials.
So that this is a smooth process users should check their personal details by logging in to MyCensus before
1 August 2009.
